Annual Reviews

Every child that attends Holbrook School for Autism will hold and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) with their Local Authority.  Depending on who is your Local Authority may alter how the meetings and information is recorded and requested but on a whole, for parents and carers, the process predominately remains the same.

What is an annual review?

An annual review meeting is the statutory process of looking at the needs, provision and outcomes specified in your child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and deciding whether these need to be changed.

When and how do these take place?

They are held every year, and you will be invited into school for the meeting, or it can be held virtually.

What do I need to do?

You will be contacted by school with a proposed meeting date and time.  You will be asked to submit information about your views and listing any professionals involved with your child who should be invited to the meeting.  This information will be completed on ‘The Hub’ (Derbyshire County Council and Nottinghamshire County Council) or via electronic forms.

Prior to the meeting you will receive an annual review report from school and any reports that have been submitted by any professionals. Sometimes the professionals will attend in person and not submit a report. Please review any documents prior to the meeting.

What happens at the meeting?

Your child’s teacher will lead the meeting, introduce everyone in attendance and go through any reports or verbal updates. All attendees will agree if any amendments to the EHCP are to be proposed.

What happens after the meeting?

Your child’s teacher will complete a report which is then submitted to the local authority along with your views and all the reports from the meeting. The local authority will then review the EHC plan and notify you of its decision to amend or maintain the EHCP within four weeks of the meeting.
