Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)
At Holbrook School for Autism, we provide inclusive Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) for all pupils. Our programme helps pupils understand healthy relationships, personal identity, diversity, and wellbeing, while building confidence, resilience, and communication skills. We ensure learning is safe, accessible, and responsive to individual needs, preparing pupils to make informed choices and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
Our RSHE Working Group is:
Faye Fearn – Curriculum Lead
Tom Campion – Post 16
Richard Jackson – SLT
Michelle Booth – Link Governor
Kelly Thorne and Gemma Farrell – Safeguarding
We are proudly working towards achieving different levels of the Derbyshire BERT (Building Effective Relationships Together) Award, which recognises our commitment to delivering high-quality Relationships and Sex Education (RSE).
Curriculum Implementation
We use ‘Jigsaw’ as the foundation of our scheme of work to deliver Relationships and Sex education.
RSE Film for Parents and Carers
This film is for parents and carers of children with SEND to learn about relationships and sex education (RSE). It was made with staff, pupils, and families from two special schools in Derbyshire and the Derbyshire Public Health Nursing Service.
Children with SEND often need help to:
- Understand growing up and puberty
- Learn about healthy relationships, consent, personal boundaries, and safe touch
Parents and carers in the film share their experiences and how support has helped their children.
