Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)
At Holbrook School for Autism, we provide inclusive Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) for all students. Our programme helps students understand healthy relationships, personal identity, diversity, and wellbeing, while building confidence, resilience, and communication skills. We ensure learning is safe, accessible, and responsive to individual needs, preparing pupils to make informed choices and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
Our RSHE Working Group is:
Stephanie Cull and Louise Story – Curriculum Lead
Tom Campion – Post 16
Michelle Booth – Link Governor
Kelly Thorne and Gemma Farrell – Safeguarding
We are proudly working towards achieving different levels of the Derbyshire BERT (Building Effective Relationships Together) Award, which recognises our commitment to delivering high-quality Relationships and Sex Education (RSE).
Curriculum Implementation
We use ‘Jigsaw’ as the foundation of our scheme of work to deliver Relationships and Sex education.
Building Effective Relationships Together (BERT) Award
We are happy to announce that we have been awarded the Bronze BERT Award by Derbyshire County Council!
This recognises the development of our Relationships, Health and Sex Education (RHSE) offer for students and families.
We’ll continue to build on this work as we aim for the Silver and Gold awards, strengthening RHSE across our curriculum and ensuring a supportive, holistic approach for all our learners.
RSE Film for Parents and Carers
This film is for parents and carers of children with SEND to learn about relationships and sex education (RSE). It was made with staff, pupils, and families from two special schools in Derbyshire and the Derbyshire Public Health Nursing Service.
Children with SEND often need help to:
- Understand growing up and puberty
- Learn about healthy relationships, consent, personal boundaries, and safe touch
Parents and carers in the film share their experiences and how support has helped their children.
